This method of sawing the log exposes the medullary rays and “fleck” in the wood grain. Quarter and rift sawn oak flooring has radial and vertical grain instead of tangential grain. This gives the planks a completely different appearance from the cathedral grain of our plainsawn oak floors, and it provides additional stability. Features the greatest amount of knots and character.
Why You’ll Love Rift and Quarter Sawn Oak Floors
Quarter sawn floors are generally available in widths of 3-6″ wide. If you are looking for very wide floors with some vertical grain, you may like our live sawn natural character grade floors, which are available in wider widths up to 12 inches.
