This method of sawing the log exposes the medullary rays and “fleck” in the wood grain. Quarter and rift sawn oak flooring has radial and vertical grain instead of tangential grain. This gives the planks a completely different appearance from the cathedral grain of our plainsawn oak floors, and it provides additional stability.
Our family has made wide plank flooring for over 55 years, and we enjoy creating enduring floors that are a healthy and environmentally friendly solution for our clients’ homes.
